‘BigShot’ teaches children how a digital camera works

0 Comments 24 November 2009

The ‘BigShot‘ digital camera is a kit designed to be built by children to teach them how it works. The project was developed at the Computer VisionLab at Columbia University. The team chose the camera as a teaching tool because it is also a tool for communication.

While consumer cameras are overly complex, this camera is stripped to it basic parts to make it easier to build and understand. The team hopes the camera will give children a better understanding of how the digital devices they use work.
