Maria Cristina Bellucci worked for many years as a theater costume designer and now creates her own jewelry made from colored pencils. The pieces are made using fragments of pencils that have been attached together and formed into a variety of shapes.

‘What characterized my early work was the use of very thin metal sheets and wires, experimenting with hollowness and fullness.
In later work, I started using even thinner metal sheets, as if working with paper sheets, creating pieces that were voluminous and light at the same time.
My more recent work is characterised by having more solid looking elements and also by the introduction of colour, not previously explored.’

‘A pearlized Turbo Cinereus shell with tiny holes drilled into the bottom is filled with a sparkling silver-colored powder that when gently tapped, sprinkles a light dusting on the wearer’s chest. A natural cork fits snugly into the opening of the shell, acting as a stopper. The small pendant (approximately 1 inch in diameter) hangs from a 16 inch Sterling Silver chain. There is a miniature Sterling Silver funnel attached to the clasp for decoration and refilling.

To use: Remove the cork, pour a small amount of powder into the shell, and replace the cork. The pendant comes unfilled, with one vial of natural mineral cosmetic powder (or you can use the cosmetic powder of your choice).’
