Permanent Marker Installation by Heike Weber

Cologne-based artist Heike Weber created permanent marker artwork she completed for a cafe in Prague entitled ‘Bodenlos’ – which literally means ‘loosing the ground under your feet’.

The installation strays from the traditional avenues associated with the artistic discipline of sculpture by using a very common and available tool – a marker, and through meticulous and labour-intensive applications of the instrument, Weber manages to create another world. The artist transforms a space into a three-dimensional sheet of paper, flooding walls, floor and surfaces with graphic interventions – injecting a powerful energy through creeping strokes and lines.

She hijacks an area through the humble medium of illustration, engulfing the atmosphere with mesmerizing force – commanding an interaction, a response.
