Stella McCartney’s Lucky Spot Returns to Belsay Castle

0 Comments 10 April 2009

Stella McCartney’s crystal horse sculpture, Lucky Spot, was a much-loved temporary exhibit in the 2004 Fashion at Belsay exhibition. It remained one of English Heritage’s most memorable and visually appealing exhibits at Belsay Hall Castle & Gardens in Northumberland.

Cantering back to Belsay and opening to the public at Easter 2009, thanks to funding from Castle Morpeth Borough Council.

Stella McCartney was inspired to create Lucky Spot following a visit to Belsay. Her response to this beautiful place with its grand medieval castle and mystical quarry garden was to create something magical, romantic and visually stunning. She designed a jeweled curtain of thousands of Swarovski crystals that hung in the shape of a horse from the ceiling in the Castle’s Great Hall.
