‘Recent years have seen a rapidly growing interest among contemporary architects in the use of curtain walls to create innovative, attention-grabbing building facades.
With new concerns about the environment and affordable envelopes, the curtain wall represents a microcosm of issues important to architecture: climate responsiveness and energy use, intelligent utilization of resources, and advancements in digital design and fabrication.
For the ‘Tic-Tac House’, FGMF based their work on a simple everyday object, the clock.
‘House on the Water’ by Polish firm formodesign is a proposal for a single family home. Designed with sustainability in mind the house takes into consideration water desalination, energy accumulation, ventilation methods, water recycling, heat and energy consumption, tidal and solar energy.
On September 14th. 2007, Copenhagen architects Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) have won the competition for the new Danish Maritime Museum in Helsingor.
The design surrounds an existing dry dock, cutting into its walls and bridging across it but otherwise leaving the dock space empty.
