‘La Boule’: 1970s Avant Garde Tableware from Villeroy & Boch

Designed by Helen von Boch in the early 1970s, Avant Garde is a set of stacking tableware for four persons that becomes a centerpiece for the the dining room, by forming a ball in different colors (brown, white, red brown). 19 pieces in total, including plates, side dishes and bowls in different sizes.

Marked underneath each piece “Villeroy & Boch, avant garde, made in Germany”.

‘Pavilion 21 MINI Opera Space’ by COOP HIMMELB(L)AU

‘VitraHaus’ by Herzog & de Meuron

Construction work is due to start in September on ‘VitraHaus’, a new showroom at the Vitra Campus at Weil am Rhein in Germany.

Designed by architects Herzog & de Meuron, it will be the latest architectural addition at the furniture brand’s extensive HQ complex, which already features buildings by Frank Gehry, Zaha Hadid, Tadao Ando and more.

‘The Berg’: world’s largest man-made mountain

German architect Jakob Tigges has unveiled a plan for a 1,000m tall faux mountain at the site of the former Tempelhof airport in Berlin, and his supporters are taking it rather seriously. Dubbed ‘The Berg‘, the snow-capped colossus would be the world’s largest man-made mountain and would serve as a tourist attraction for skiers in the otherwise slope-less city.
